VOICE OF DEMOCRACY AND PATRIOT’S PEN

OCTOBER, 2010

 

TOMORROW’S future can be better than the present.  The youth accomplishment

of hope remains an always unexpected miracle.  Through participation, the miracle remains forever possible.  Our two joint programs, the VOICE OF DEMOCRACY

AUDIO/ESSAY AND THE PATRIOT’S PEN COMPETITION, allows us to be enveloped in the enthusiasm of these young people.  As we sponsor these two programs, we will help to share the love of our organization, its meaning and our love of country.

 

Hopefully you have started on your programs in the schools for Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen.  November 1, 2010, is the student deadline for both programs, and time is rapidly passing.  Do not forget those students who are in private, parochial high school,

church or home schools. 

 

VOICE OF DEMOCRACY:  THEME:  Does My Generation Have a Role in America’s Future?  The Voice of Democracy Contest is open to students in grades 9-12.  The

original essay needs to be 3-5 minutes, recorded on a standard cassette tape or CD. 

The Department winner will enjoy traveling to Washington, DC in March, to compete

for $149,000.00 in scholarships, the first place receiving a $30,000.00 scholarship.

 

PATRIOT’S PEN:  THEME-Does Patriotism Still Matter?

A youth essay writing contest is open to 6th. 7th. and 8th. grade students.  Student must

write their own essay, and should be typewritten in English with no color or graphics,

and cannot be less than 300 words or greater than 400 words in length. Regardless of

length, every word will be counted. 

 

NATIONAL PRIZES:          

1st. $10,000.00 U.S. Savings Bond, plus an all expense paid trip to Washington, DC, for the winner and a parent or guardian.

2nd. $8,000.00 U.S. Savings Bond                 7th.          $3,500.00 U.S. Savings Bond

3rd. $7,000.00 U.S. Savings Bond                  8th.- 9th.   $3,000.00 U.S. Savings Bond

4th. $5,500.00 U.S. Savings Bond                  10th-11th $2,500.00 U.S. Savings Bond

5th. $5,000.00 U.S. Savings Bond                  12th-13th $2,000.00 U.S. Savings Bond

6th. $4,000.00 U.S. Savings Bond                  14th-15th $1,500.00 U.S. Savings Bond

                                                                        16th-46th $1,000.00 U.S. Savings Bond

 

Our future lies with these young people.  What a privilege it is for us to play a part in

developing their minds for the future.
