Voice of Democracy & Patriots Pen Dec. 2010
Posted at 01:04 on 2010-Dec-2 by Resources
DECEMBER, 2010
By now, the District Commander or District Chairman should be sending their winners to the Department Chairman for the Department judging. December 11, 2010 is the date set for our Department judging.
Reminders: Have you thanked your VFW counterpart, teachers, parents, principals, judges, news media and all others that helped make your Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen program a success. Perhaps you would like to plan a dinner at your Post Home to honor your winners, and remember parents and grandparents enjoy attending such events.
Recognize and thank the students that participated in the two essay contest that did not win. Encourage all eligible students to try again next year; this is a win, win situation. Now is the time to take care of these important matters.
We are “United by Love for our Veterans and Country”, so let us remember it is our obligation to guide our youth in the right direction, by opening the doors for a higher education.
I am very interested in how you assisted your Post in promoting the Voice of Democracy/ Patriot’s Pen program, along with the number of entries. Also, if you publicized this program, and have newspaper articles, bulletins, and etc., I would appreciate a copy along with a report.
Auxiliary Sisters, remembering “Our Strength Lies in Unity”, we play a very important role in molding the lives of our young people.
Loyally With Love,
Farres Upton
