Christmas is rapidly approaching; do you have members that have not paid their 2010-2011 dues?   Every Auxiliary member is important, and we must let them know we care about them.  The Holiday Season is a perfect time to make personal contacts; they will appreciate hearing from someone in the Auxiliary.

RE-INSTATE those members who have slipped out the back door.   Talk with your Auxiliary Treasurer, get those old application cards, contact these ladies and see if they will re-commit themselves to our veterans.

NEW MEMBERS are needed to boost our Auxiliary Programs and younger members can breathe life back into Auxiliaries with their energy and vitality.  Don’t be afraid to ask everyone if they are eligible to join our organization.  Please stress that the Ladies Auxiliary VFW helps supports and protects Veterans and their families.  Make up membership kits, place them in stores, offices and hand them out at community events.

COMMUNICATION is important.  Communicate with your members; it is not a waste of time. Keep your members informed, let them know what is going on, and    how they can help the Auxiliary with projects or programs.  Each year if you only get one more member to help, it is worth it.

At this time of the year, mentoring is most important.   As mentors we can help to retain lost members, by reminding them of meeting times, and offer to pick them up to go with you to your Auxiliary meetings.  By making them feel welcome, they may encourage other eligible Ladies to join the Auxiliary.  Invite members to travel with you to Council meetings, District meetings, and the Department Convention.  These are learning schools for all members.

During this Holiday Season, let us all remember Our Strength Lies in Unity so let us work together to strengthen our great organization, The Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Wishing each of you a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.

Loyally With Love,

Farres
