How can it already be September, seems like just yesterday it was June. I’ve been getting some very nice reports from some Auxiliaries. I would like to stress that just calling a neighbor is not Community Service. That is being a neighbor. If you actually do something for them, mow the lawn, shovel snow, etc., that is Community Service.
We must remember that UNITY is a big part of CommUNITY. That means working together. Work with other organizations and charities. Find a special project that your Post/Auxiliary can do, record it in your minutes and report it.
I do look forward to seeing all those reports. Remember; send me only a courtesy copy. The original should go to your Post Commander who will send it “up the chain” to the VFW Community Service Chairman.
In the mean time, start looking for that project for “Make A Difference” Day in October. I want a report from every Auxiliary that they did something for that special day.
This month is going to be short as I am recovering from two hospitalizations during a three week period and I’m still getting my strength back.
