VOICE OF DEMOCRACY AND PATRIOT’S PEN
NOVEMBER, 2010
Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen student entries must be to the VFW Post no later than November 1, 2010 for judging. Local judging should be completed by November 15, 2010, and sent to the District Commander or District Chairman. District judging should be completed by December 6, 2010, with the winning entries being sent to the Department chairman.
The District Commander or District Chairman must submit a cassette or a CD of the speech, a copy of the written speech, a head shot of the District winner, and all paperwork must be completed in regard to the winner, along with the District summary of all VFW Post/Auxiliaries who submitted entries for District judging.

Many of you are committed to the Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen scholarship program, giving many hours of your time, and doing whatever is necessary to make these programs a success. PATRIOT’S PEN
Does Patriotism Still Matter?
A youth-essay writing contest that gives students in grades 6th, 7th, and 8th. the
opportunity to write essays expressing their views on democracy. Contestants write a
300-400 word essay based on the above theme. The first place winner receives a $10,000
savings bond and an all expense paid trip to
