PATRIOT’S PEN

Does Patriotism Still Matter?

 

A youth-essay writing contest that gives students in grades 6th, 7th, and 8th.  the

opportunity to write essays expressing their views on democracy.  Contestants write a

300-400 word essay based on the above theme.  The first place winner receives a $10,000

savings bond and an all expense paid trip to Washington D.C. 

 

Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen application forms are available here on the National VFW website.  (Programs- VFW Scholarship Programs)

 

Mark all deadlines and please ensure they are met for students and Post/Auxiliary.

November 15, 2010                Completion of Post Judging

December 6, 2010                  Completion of District Judging

January 7, 2011                      Completion of Department Judging

January 15, 2011                    Department winners due at VFW National Headquarters
