APRIL 2011
"United By Love for Our Veterans and Country" has proven to be a great guideline for us all to follow this year. This will be my last Promotion before End of Year reports are due tome by April 15. Please make sure to use the End of Year report form and get them in on time to be included for the judging for Auxiliary awards. It is also very important to have at least 80% reporting participation by our Department to receive a National Citation.
All applications for Hospital Volunteer of the Year are due to me on or before April 30. All VAVS Representatives should review the record of volunteer hours at their respective Medical Centers. Be sure that your Volunteers are presented with the hourly pins that are due them. These pins can be ordered from National at no cost.
According to the Department Treasurer, some of the Auxiliaries have not yet paid their required contributions to the “Hospital Reserve Fund” of $20.00 and the “VAVS Hospital Fund” thatis based on your June 30 Membership. Ladies, please take care of this obligation as soon as possible so that the funds will be available for distribution to our VA Medical Centers. The form for this was included in a recent Department mailing.
I'm sure most of you have heard by now of the passing of our Auxiliary Sister Sandy Nodurft from Hendersonville Auxiliary 5206. She was a dedicated Volunteer at the Asheville VAMC for many years and was an Honorary VAVS Representative. Cards may be sent to
Thanks to all of you for what you do for our Hospitalized Veterans. It doesn't take much to put a smile on the face of our Veterans. Until next month........
